Martina Köppel-Yang curated Black—Extreme—Vigorous—Figurative in conjunction with organizers of the Shenzhen International Ink Painting Biennial, and produced an exhibition that presents manifestations of ink painting that are not dependent on the tradition of discipline and form. Working with Yang Jiechang, she introduced a group of artists who endeavour to deliver ink painting into a larger discourse on contemporary art.
