Ken Lum's preface to the premier issue of Yishu Journal, launched in May 2002: "...The aim of Yishu is not only to reflect on discourses on Chinese art but also to produce and lead discourses on Chinese art. Yishu represents a platform for serious discussions on Chinese art in the context of globalization and increasing multiculturalism."
