Locality in Flux: Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla’s Amphibious (Login-Logout) and Cao Fei’s Whose Utopia

Volume 16, Number 6, November/December 2017
by Wu Yao

Article Description

In this paper, Wu Yao examines Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla’s Amphibious (Login-Logout) (2005) and Cao Fei’s Whose Utopia (2006). Both videos are concerned with one small geographical location--the Pearl River Delta--but their fields of vision are by no means parochial as they address the dialectical counterpart of globality, namely locality.
