Defne Ayas
Defne Ayas is a curator and educator specializing in new media, performance, and cultural collaborations across continents. Based in Shanghai and New York, Ayas works as a director for Arthub Asia and as an art history instructor at New York University. Ayas has been a curator of PERFORMA since 2004, where she has organized numerous projects, including The First/Last Newspaper and the Long March Project. Other projects include RMB City Opera, a stage performance by Cao Fei in Turin, Italy, Double Infinity with Van Abbe Museum in Shanghai, and The Making of the New Silk Roads, a performative symposium that traveled across Asia. Blind Dates, her new co-curatorial undertaking on the former Ottoman geography, opens in New York in November 2010.
