Katie Hill
Katie Hill is a curator and lecturer specializing in contemporary Chinese art with an interest in culture, politics, and criticality. She is currently co-editing a special issue of the Journal of Visual Art Practice on contemporary art and criticality in China. Her recent activities include Ai Weiwei in Conversation, a public discussion which took place at Tate Modern during the exhibition of the artist’s Unilever Series commission Sunflower Seeds. She is Director of the Office of Contemporary Chinese Art (OCCA), an organization promoting artists from China and exhibiting UK-based artists in China. Over the past two years she has developed a research project on culture and corruption in contemporary China, focusing on rural nianhua production (New Year Prints). She curated English Lounge, a group exhibition of UK-based artists at Tang Contemporary, Beijing (2009), and One World One Dream: Cai Yuan and Xi Jian Jun (aka Mad for Real) at Beijing Tokyo Art Projects (2009).
