Lily Chumley

Lily Chumley is an anthropologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Media, Culture and Communication at New York University. Her book, Creativity Class: Art School and Culture Work in Postsocialist China, is based on fieldwork, interviews, and oral histories conducted from 2006 to 2009 in Chinese art institutions, including the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and test-prep schools in Shandong and Beijing. She is co-organizer of the working group Oikos: Gender, Kinship, Money, Economy at the Institute for Public Knowledge, New York.
