Marc Schmitz

Marc Schmitz is a Berlin-based artist. He studied philosophy and fine art. In his artistic practice he is mostly interested in the openness of space. He has developed art projects internationally at Busan Biennial (2004), Beijing Biennale (2005), Sculpture Quadrennial Riga (2008), Zendai MoMA, Shanghai, and Land/Art New Mexico (2009). He has had solo exhibitions in Berlin, at the National Academy of Arts (Baku) and at the Concert Hall of Perth (Australia). Schmitz was artist-in-residence in Korea, the Peace Art Hotel in Shanghai, and at the Universidad National de Colombia in Bogotá. He is initiator and director of the Land Art Biennial in Mongolia (2010/12) and is going to have his first solo exhibition at moproo (Shanghai). from April to June 2013.
