Ornella De Nigris
Ornella De Nigris is a scholar and curator, working at the Confucius Institute of Sapienza University, Rome. She obtained her Ph.D. in Asia and Africa Civilizations, Cultures and Societies at the Italian Institute of the Oriental Studies Department, Sapienza University, Rome, defending a thesis titled Strategies and standards of Chinese museum in the promotion of contemporary art—Four case study: Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Shanghai. Her curatorial activity mainly deals with Chinese photography and documentary. She is co-founder of the NOMADE independent art space project in Rome. She lived in China for four years, where she attended courses in advanced Chinese language and was a visiting student in art history courses at Tsinghua University, Beijing. She also attended the NMK 2014 Museum Network Fellowship, an intensive course in museum studies at the National Museum of Korea, Seoul. She has served as peer reviewer for the academic journal Networking Knowledge.
