Rebecca Catching
Rebecca Catching is the director of the experimental space OV Gallery, curator at the Shanghai Minsheng 21st Century Museum, and co-founder of the Chinese contemporary art magazine Ran Dian. Her research and curatorial interests include posthumanism in East Asian new media art practice (explored, for example, in the exhibition series Foreign Bodies, Goethe-Institut Shanghai, 2016–17), the continuing dialogue between Buddhist/Daoist thought and contemporary Chinese art (explored in Learning from the Literati, a group exhibition at OV Gallery, Shanghai, 2010), and the sociopolitical impact of industrial production and globalization, which she explored as executive director of The Assembly Line Project, initiated by the artist Li Xiaofei in 2010 as an ongoing series of curated thematic events. In addition to her curatorial pursuits, she works as a museum planning consultant with Lord Cultural Resources in Toronto, where she co-edited The Development of Chinese Museums: Understanding the Building Boom, to be published in July 2019 by Rowman and Littlefield.
