1Shuyu Kong
Shuyu Kong is a professor of humanities and co-director of David Lam Center for International Communication at Simon Fraser University. Her research interests encompass both Chinese literary and cultural studies and Chinese diaspora studies. Recently she has been working on contemporary Chinese artists in the diaspora and the Chinese modernist art movement in the early 20th century. Besides numerous articles published in English- and French-language journals, Kong authored Consuming Literature: Bestsellers and the Commercialization of Literary Production in Contemporary China (Stanford University Press, 2005), and Popular Media, Social Emotion and Public Discourse in Contemporary China (Routledge, 2014). Kong is also the co-translator of Beijing Women: Stories (Merwin Asia, 2014), and she contributes regularly to Chinese journals such as Reading (Dushu) and Booktown (Shucheng).
