1Thorsten Botz Bornstein
Thorsten Botz-Bornstein studied philosophy in Paris and received his Ph.D. from Oxford University. As a postdoctoral researcher based in Finland, he undertook extensive research on Russian formalism and semiotics in Russia and the Baltic countries. He has also conducted research in Japan, in particular on the Kyoto School and on the philosophy of Nishida Kitaro. Since 1999 he has been Associate Researcher at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales, Paris, from which he received his Habilitation. He has been working as a consultant for the Center of Cognition at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China, and as Assistant Professor at Tuskegee University, Alabama, and will soon begin an appointment as Assistant Professor at the Gulf University for Science and Technology in Kuwait.
