1Xu Tingting
Xu Tingting is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Art History at University of Chicago. Her dissertation research focuses on the history of early Chinese photography, with an emphasis on the interactions among photography, painting, technology, and antiquarianism in late Qing China. Before moving to Chicago, Xu Tingting earned her M.F.A. degree from the Parsons School of Design, New York, wrote a monthly column for Chinese Photography Magazine, and published her first book, Niche: In and Out—Interviews with Contemporary North American Photographic Artists (Zhejiang Photographic Press, 2010). She worked at Huachen Auctions and China Photo Archives in Beijing from 2009 to 2012 and was the Chinese translator of Terry Bennett’s three-volume History of Photography in China (Chinese Edition, Beijing: China Photographic Publishing House, 2011–14).
