Yan Zhou

Yan Zhou is a Toronto-based independent curator with interests that include gender representations, global environmental issues and the climate crisis, translational art, and culture communications. She has curated several major international exhibitions and participated in festivals including the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival in 2018 and 2014 and the 2017 Lianzhou Foto Festival and the 6th Beijing International Art Biennale in 2015. Zhou is a PhD candidate at the University of Toronto. Her current research includes Chinese con- temporary art communities and Western plant-hunters’ botanizing of Chinese plants from the seventeenth century to the mid-twentieth century.
