Article Description

In this paper, in order to show how Chinese artists have employed and implemented the cultural legacy of the Cultural Revolution during the last two decades, Martina Köppel-Yang discusses and distinguishes three basic strategies: assimilation, deconstructive strategies, and appropriation. This paper was presented at a conference titled "Cultural Production and the Cultural Revolution" which was held at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, Canada, from March 22 to 23, 2002.
