Kong Shuyu discusses the distribution of foreign literature during the Cultural Revolution and how internal publication provides a source for studying the complexity and stratification of culture in Socialist China, particularly during the 1960s and 1970s. This paper was presented at a conference titled "Cultural Production and the Cultural Revolution" which was held at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, Canada, from March 22 to 23, 2002.
