Polemical Position—Art’s Great Leap in Hong Kong and its Denial of the Local

Volume 13, Number 2, March/April 2014
by Lau Kin Wah

Article Description

Lau Kin Wah speaks about the art scene in Hong Kong which is getting more internationalized owing to market tides and M+ (of the West Kowloon Cultural District). A serious gap (even hierarchy) has therefore appeared, in between the art world's global players newly airborne within the local context. Terms like "local artist" have been dispelled, as if it is something provincial and degrading.
