Julie Chun's review of the dual solo exhibitions Relics, with work by Maryn Varbanov (1932–89), and Divine Ruse, with work by Jin Shan (b. 1977), at BANK, Shanghai, held from November 20, 2015, to January 6, 2016. Chun explores how these exhibitions cast light on fragments of art history to reveal the conditions of China’s multiple histories.
