Volume 17, Number 1, January/February 2018
by Denisa Tomkova
Article Description
Denisa Tomkova explores problems of inequality and rural-urban class disparity generated by the hukou system, which was introduced in mainland China in the 1950s with the aim of preventing migration from rural to urban areas. The ideas presented here are based on an interview with contemporary Chinese artist Zhu Fadong about his project Identity Cards (1998–2015).
