Beck Jee-Sook
Beck Jee-sook is an art critic and curator based in Seoul. She is the former director of the Arts Council Korea (ARKO) Art Center, former project director of the Insa Art Space of the ARKO, and the current artistic director of Atelier Hermès. Beck curated Activating Korea: Tides of Collective Action (Govett-Brewster Art Gallery), The Last Chapter: Trace Route: Remapping Global Cities (Gwangju Biennale), The Battle of Visions (Kunsthalle Darmstadt), and A New Past: Contemporary Art of the Former Yugoslavian Regions (Marronnier Art Center). Her interests include modern and contemporary Korean history as seen through artistic and cultural processes, creating public access for contemporary art and artists, encountering disasters and social activities as a passage to reality and restoration, and the archiving and distribution of contemporary art and cultural contents through careful research.
