1Pan Gongkai
Pan Gongkai, Ph.D., holds a distinguished career as an artist, scholar, and educator. Serving as the former President of both the China Academy of Art, Hangzhou (1996–2001) and the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing (2001–2014), he is a pioneering figure in Chinese ink painting traditions. His groundbreaking exhibitions include the 56th Venice Biennale and the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai. Solo exhibitions include major museums globally such as the San Diego Museum of Art, Frye Art Museum, Seattle, ZKM, Oxford- Brookes University Gallery, Oxford, Museum of Sorbonne University, Paris, UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, Museum of Tokyo Art University, Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Taipei, Hong Kong Arts Center, and the National Art Museum of China, Beijing. Pan’s works have been collected by esteemed institutions and private collectors worldwide.
