Pan Tianshou

Pan Tianshou (1897-1971), a renowned Chinese artist, was known for his free-style paintings of nature and figures. His work combined traditional techniques with modernist elements, earning him recognition as one of the \"Four Masters of Chinese Painting.\" He confronted challenges within traditional painting during China\'s social and cultural revolutions, advocating for both preserving its heritage and incorporating contemporary styles. Notably influential in art education, he held prestigious positions, such as the professor and president of the National College of Art, the professor and president of Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts, and the vice chairman of China Artists Association. He also authored numerous publications, leaving a lasting impact on contemporary painting worldwide.
