Zaixin Hong
Zaixin Hong, Ph.D., is Professor of Art History at the University of Puget Sound, USA. He received his Ph.D. degree in Art History at China Art Academy, Hangzhou, China, where he is now the Nanshan Lecture Professor. He was in charge of editing Pan Tianshou Shuhuaji (The Collected Calligraphy and Paintings of Pan Tianshou) (Zhejiang People’s Art Press, 1996). He is the author of the award-winning textbook Zhongguo Meishushi (A History of Chinese Art) (China Art Academy Press, 2000; revised and expanded ed., 2013) and Huang Binhong de Shijie Yiyi: Zhongguo Xiandai Yishu Yanjiu Wenji (The Universality of Huang Binhong: An Anthology on Modern Chinese Art Studies) (China Art Academy Press, 2022). A 2005–2006 fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies and the National Endowment for the Humanities, Zaixin Hong is working on his new book entitled Shaking Hands with the Future: Huang Binhong and the Revelation of Chinese Modernism.
